As a Kansas City wedding photographer originally from Southern California, I love when I get to bring a little Midwest magic back to the West Coast!

Becca and Nathan are originally from the Kansas City area but now live in SoCal saving the world with their science and enginerring skills. When we talked about their engagement session, they said they were craving that lush green, springtime feeling that reminds them of home. Lucky for us, the Fullerton Arboretum was showing off that evening — and wow, did it deliver!

The arboretum was literally bursting with color and scent: wisteria draped over archways, orange blossoms perfuming the air, and a sunset that wrapped everything in gold. We wandered through the rainforest paths, practiced their first dance lakeside, and even walked through the desert garden for some contrast (yes, they nailed it!).

What I loved most? Becca and Nathan were completely themselves. Silly, sweet, totally in love (since highschool 🥹) — they made the whole experience feel effortless. My goal as your photographer (whether you’re in Kansas City, Southern California or anywhere!) is to make you feel relaxed, to laugh a lot, and to never stress about the camera. It’s not about stiff poses or fake smiles — it’s about you two, your real connection, and having fun together.

By the end of the evening, we’d created a gorgeous gallery full of colorful, joyful, high-quality images that felt like Kansas spring — even in the middle of California. 🌿
