Lifestyle Engagement Photos in Kansas City

I won’t lie to you – when Jaycee (of Jaycee Hill Photography) reached out to me about her and Padens 2026 Kansas City wedding, I was a bit nervous. It’s a huge honor when ANYONE reaches out to me about photographing their wedding but when it’s another photographer, especially one whose work is so good, the pressure is on! However, Jaycee is a gem and I knew after our consult together that:

  1. I wanted to be her and Padens new best friend
  2. I definitely wanted to be the one to capture their wedding day
  3. If I wasn’t going to achieve #2, I was going to demand an invite because these two are FUN and their wedding is going to be the shit.

When we started talking about taking engagement photos, ya girl got pumped. Jaycee had a vision and I was here 👏 for 👏 it 👏. There is almost nothing I love more than getting to collaborate with my clients on their ideas and help them bring their vision to life. What DO I love more? Getting to do something during your photo shoot that helps to tell your story in such an honest and truthful way. Jaycee wanted her engagement photos to be colorful, have a lifestyle feel to them and to be truly representative of her and Paden both as individuals and as a couple – SIGN ME UP.

Jaycee and Paden live in downtown KC and love getting to spend their time exploring all of the amazing bars, breweries and restaurants Kansas City has to offer. What else do they love? Plants. As a plant mom and soon to be florist, Jaycee knew she wanted to do some of their session at John’s Greenhouse in Kansas City. Talk about a dream location right? If you haven’t been to a greenhouse during the dead of winter in the midwest, you are seriously missing out. It’s the fastest way to get yourself warm tropical vacation vibes! John’s Greenhouse is an extra cool spot because it is 100+ years old, in the middle of a neighborhood, and attached to someone’s house. There are ferns in there that are literally growing out of old potting tables and thriving. We settled on Casual Animal Brewing for location number two as it matched the colorful, playful, planty vibes we were going for. Overall that day we soaked up the sunny warm vibes, had some laughs, practiced their dip + kiss moves and got the CUTEST, lush, honest, love-filled photos.

I always love an engagement session because it gives me such a great real life peek into your relationship. How you two interact together, how you love one another, how you make each other laugh…I love getting to focus on my couples and capture those emotions! Your engagement is such a fleeting time, and as your life goes on it’s easily forgotten. It’s so important to be able to have a photographic reminder of the joy, excitement and giddiness that you feel leading up to your wedding day. I want that reminder to feel like you! If you agree, send me a message and let’s get you on my calendar for your own couples photo shoot.
